More About Sheryl

In addition to raising four children, being active and eating healthy is what I am most passionate about.

For the past 8 years, I have taught my signature class, “Feed a Family of Four on $160 a Month” to hundreds of adults.

This course has not only helped my own family abundantly but every student who applied the principles that were taught.

As a member of the Salt Lake Tribune Newspaper “Money Matters Panel” and being a "Provident Living Specialist" in my community, I have received ample opportunities to share my healthy eating, money-saving tips with anyone who would listen.

It all began early in our marriage, when my husband, Dave, encouraged me to start making healthier choices in our home cooked meals by using whole grains and legumes.

Besides eating healthier I am very excited to tell the world about the financial benefits of this program, especially with today's economy! It's a VERY inexpensive way to eat, which is why I call my “healthy eating” class “Feed a Family of Four on $160/month”. Our economy is forcing everyone to be more concerned about spending money rather than eating healthy, but the GREAT NEWS is... you can enjoy both in my "6-3-4" Meal Plan!

In 2007, I organized a Community Garden Group, which produces an abundance of local, fresh, organic, home grown fruits and vegetables! It has continued to expand into multiple properties around the Salt Lake valley which is extremely rewarding. Not only are we able to feed over 150 families but also teach them valuable gardening skills that will help them throughout their lives! Our city mayor, Dennis Webb, is part of my support team and loves what I'm doing as I look for new creative ways to help more citizens in our community eat fresh, local, organic food.

What motivates me?

I am grateful for the financial trials in my life. During 30 years of marriage and raising our children, I became very familiar with financial challenges due to layoffs. We've endured three of them as my husband was laid off in the Computer Software field due to outsourcing and downsizing. In the early years, I remember having $5 to live on for 7 days until payday, to feed our four young children. But even through some very difficult times, LIFE IS GOOD, thanks to living and following the principles and lessons taught in my own Feed a Family Classes. I've had wonderful opportunities to see if I can "walk the walk" and "talk the talk" of what I've been teaching others to do for so many years.

I rarely go to a grocery store. Because I know how to prepare and cook whole grains and legumes and supplement them with fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat, I rarely have to go to a grocery store, which has saved our family a TON of money and time over the years!

I am eager to show others what I am doing and how well it has worked for my family and me!

Turning a weakness into a strength. I personally know how just ONE layoff can financially devastate a person or family. However, I've learned, over the years, how to take financial challenges and turn them into huge blessings and strengths by helping thousands of others along the way.

Besides teaching, during the past 12 years I have been able to distribute food to those in need, from stores that provided me with day old baked goods. I not only enjoy GIVING food away but I mostly love TEACHING people how to feed their families on their own, for the rest of their lives. It's exciting to show people that it's a lot easier than they think.
