Nine of our fifteen gardens are on the West Side of the Salt Lake valley. The square footage is generally larger than our East Side Gardens. Three are in South Jordan, with two on the same street, near 11400 South and 2700 West with spectacular views of Mt. Timpanogos in the background. The third South Jordan location is approx. 3000 West and 9500 South. One is in Riverton near 13200 South and Redwood Road. Three are located in West Jordan with two near 2700 West 7400 South and one near 8400 South and 3400 West. A largest garden is in Taylorsville near 1300 West and 6200 South and one garden is in West Valley City near 3800 West and 2800 South .
It's very exciting to grow our food in these locations with so much land opportunities! Features include water irrigation methods, vertical gardening, vegetable gardens with plenty of tomatoes, peppers, corn, winter and summer squash, pumpkin patch, herbs, flowers, fruits and more.
West Side gardens have plenty of room for children to play while parents and older children are working in the gardens. Once a tractor/tiller has finished tilling the large properties for us, we are able to begin planting! We finish up with the West Side Gardens in late October or November.
Members receive hands-on training in a variety of garden skills including composting, growing food from seed, irrigation methods, preparing large pieces of land for planting, etc.
One great benefit of having so many gardens located all over the Salt Lake valley is to observe the soil and weather conditions for each garden location. It's fun to watch crops grow and discover what challenges and advantages they have at each location.
West Side crops include: Cucumber, lettuce, cabbage, peas, carrots, beets, tomatoes, peppers, basil, garlic, onions, pears, apples, apricots, plums, winter and summer squash, melons, beans, potatoes, Swiss Chard, pumpkin, etc.
Join us in working in any of the gardens and we'll reward you well with plenty of fresh produce from ALL of our fifteen gardens!
We are the only CSA in Utah that allows members or share-holders to work in the gardens on a regular weekly basis, along with their family members, including children.
