UPDATE: There are 2 hiking options on this morning. Snowshoeing in East Canyon & Antelope Island. In A. I. I'm not sure if all the snow will be gone by the time we arrive. We will meet altogether at 8 AM. I will then split the group. I will oversee the Antelope Island hike. Mike Lucero my assistant will oversee East Canyon. From our meeting place it will take approx. 1 hour to get to Antelope Island. It will take approx. 23 minutes to get to East Canyon, Little Dell Reservoir. At Antelope Island we are hiking White Rock Bay Trail OR Lakeside Trail depending on trail conditions. For Antelope Island State Park there is a $10/vehicle entrance fee OR $8/vehicle for seniors.

TIMELINE:

8:00 AM - Start gathering, greet everyone, arrange carpools, announcements, final instructions, etc.
8:30 AM - Leave for Antelope Island
9:30 AM - Arrive at the trailhead on antelope island, approx. time
11:30 am - Off the trail (you may always stay longer OR turn around earlier)
12:30 pm- Arrive in the salt lake valley

Equipment or Gear
  • Water - 2 liters, 1 liter or 1 quart per hour of hiking is recommended
  • Snack i.e. granola bar, trail mix, nuts
  • Sun protection i.e. sunscreen, lip balm
  • Hat
  • Micro Spikes or equivalent - contact me if you don't have a pair
  • Sunglasses
  • Dress in layers
  • First Aid Kit - (Optional) (basic supplies i.e. bandaids, aspirin, Neosporin, moist towelettes, etc.) 
  • Cell phone - service may be spotty in the canyons
  • Camera
  • Flashlight - It's good to have one even though most of our hikes are in the morning

TIP:
When carpooling get your driver’s cell phone # in case you get separated.
Bring a few dollars to give your driver if you are carpooling.
