Welcome to your new Outdoor Adventure Family!

Due to weather conditions last week we postponed this Featured hike until now.  Featured Hikes are special hikes that only occur during the summer and/or early fall season.  Because the drive time is longer to and from the featured hike, a more local hike will always be offered if you have time restraints. See the TIMELINE BEFORE attending a featured hike.

TIMELINE:

8 AM - Start gathering, greet hikers, arrange carpools as needed, announcements, final instructions, etc.
8:15 AM - Drive to the FOOD TOWN in KAMAS and meet others in our group.

8:55 AM - Arrive at FOOD TOWN in KAMAS next to a SINCLAIR Gas Station. Park and meet us closer to the Sinclair Station in that same parking lot, away from the busier area.  We'll get out of our cars to make sure we are all together but once we all arrive plan to leave within 5 minutes. If you  need to go to the bathroom, buy food or get fuel get there a little earlier so you are ready to go close to 9 AM. We can drop a few cars here if anyone wants to carpool.

9 AMish:  Follow us into the Uintas from here.  Soon after we leave Kamas we lose cell phone coverage so put your phone on airplane mode when we leave Kamas.

9:45 AM: Arrive at the Lofty Lake Loop Trailhead (on the left. Pass Lake is on the right).  There is a bathroom.
9:50 AMish - Start hiking
1:30 PM - Off the trail - on or before this time - this is just a 4.4 mile loop hike with also 1000 feet elevation gain.  It takes us a little longer due to the

BONUS (see below) and we stop at one of the lakes to eat our lunch for a few minutes.

BONUS!!! - Many people don't know about a short 10 minute easy detour near Lofty Lake that takes us to one of the MOST amazing lookouts in the Uintas.  I can promise you will LOVE this spot!  After a few minutes we'll get back on the main trail and continue on the loop back to the cars by 1:30 PM.

3 PM - Arrive back in Salt Lake on or before this time.

NOTE:  If you have a few minutes after leaving this hike, stop for a few minutes and check out Mirror Lake, which also has a beautiful easy hike around the lake.  It's on your way home and it's impressive!!  We've camped here before.

This is part of a series of hikes offered weekly throughout the entire year. We are the most consistent hiking group in Utah, with a hike every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning since February 2003. When you arrive you'll be greeted by kind, caring, friendly people.

Regardless of your hiking level or ability, you are invited to join us in our beautiful outdoor playground known as the Wasatch Mountains and far beyond. We hike a different trail often and look forward to meeting new hikers as well as strengthening friendships with loyal, core members.
In addition to local hikes, join us on our many exciting, adventure trips, domestic and international.

Specific details about this hike may not be posted online but will be  discussed at the meeting place prior to leaving for the hike, however, all Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday hikes are very similar.

Even though our hikes are in a wide range of trails, canyons, and terrain, the format and guidelines are always the same. Become familiar with them if you haven't already by clicking on the links below.
