    Escalante and the surrounding areas are full of history!  To better understand just a small piece of this history, before our trip, read the miracle of the hole in the rock pioneers, THE UNDAUNTED, by Gerald N. Lund. 

    As always, enjoy this trip the way you want.  You'll enjoy planned activities from 8 AM to 10 PM each day. You decide what to participate in each day and how much. A short meeting is held every evening after dinner to discuss activities for the following day. 

    With fresh, clean air to breathe and plenty to see and do, you won't get bored!

    Four route options for getting there

    I-15 South to Exit 188 (US-50, Scipio), through Sigurd, Loa then Boulder to Escalante.


    I-15 to Exit 95 toward Panguitch, through Bryce then to Escalante.  

    About our cabin style lodging:

    Along Hwy 12 and 100 W in Escalante

    Three Apartments/Suites next to each other:

    1) Two Bedroom apartment, Full Kitchen, 1 full bed & 1 twin bed, living room, couches
    2) Two Bedroom suite, 2 queen beds, refrigerator
    3) Two Bedroom suite, 2 queen beds, refrigerator 

    All three have:
    Free Wifi  
    Shared bathroom with shower or tub 
    Free parking

    Bedrooms based on double occupancy. We are sensitive to the sleeping needs of everyone. 
    Bring a cot/air mattress if you like and sleep anywhere.


    Breakfast Buffet: Make your own
    Cold cereal, hot cereal, milk, almond milk, fruit, orange/apple juice, eggs, toast, bacon

    Made in the morning or night before since we may not return until dinner.
    Turkey, ham, cheese, lettuce, spinach, mayo, mustard, pickles, carrot sticks, granola bar, peanut butter, jam, bread, fruit, etc.

    Hearty, Hot, Healthy Home-made Dinners:
    Soup & Salad Dinner: Potato Corn Chowder (bacon on the side), Vegetable Soup, Tossed Green Salad w/ toppings
    Italian Dinner: Lasagna Dinner w/ tossed green salad w/ toppings, garlic bread
    Mexican Dinner: Enchilada Dish, Tossed Green Salad w/ toppings, Tortilla Chips, Salsa

    S’mores - graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate

    Smart Wool Socks

    Ziplock Bags (used for sandwiches, chopped ingredients for upcoming meals or left overs from a meal). 
    4 Grocery Bags or more. Used for carrying muddy, wet shoes or dirty clothes.
    Layered clothing for warmth

    10:30 AM - 1:30 PM: Fish Lake, Cathedral Valley Lookout, Short Hike in Capitol Reef NP, Torrey, Lunch

    1:30:  Leave Torrey area

    3 PM: Escalante, Check in

    3 - 5:30 PM:  Escalante Petrified Forest State Park, Short Hike
    5:30 PM: Dinner & short meeting
    6:30 - 10 PM: Games, star gazing, relax, s’mores
