Showered with Tender Mercies this year
10/29/2013 | Sheryl McGlochlin
What a year this has been!
Heavenly Father has showered my family and especially me with more than my share of tender mercies this year - and I mean SHOWERED! Not drizzled or dripped but showered me with blessings!
I found out I had colon cancer on Aug. 26. Even after removing a foot of my colon in surgery, I still was able to take a group to Lake Powell for a week, (right before my surgery), go to Cape Canaveral, Florida for a week and stay with my kids and granddaughter (2 weeks after surgery) and in 2 weeks I take 40 people to Maui for a week. 3 other members of my family are going on this trip and we are staying for 2 weeks.
I'm sure a lot of people would say "I wish I could have that hard of life after I find out I have colon cancer!".
Bottom line: I have healed quickly and I attribute a lot of that to working in the temple for the last 2 years (which has helped me increase my spiritual stamina), hiking for the past 10 years (which has helped me increase my physical, mental and emotional stamina) and eating good healthy foods from my gardens for the past several years (which has helped strengthen my body and my mind).
I am considered Stage 2 Colon Cancer and continue to go in for check ups every 3 months for the next 2 years.
