This is Raena, Sheryl's daughter.  She wanted me to keep you updated on her condition.  Everything went as planned in surgery.  It lasted about 2 and a half hours.  They got all of the cancer out.  We don't know many specific details on how much of the colon they took out yet but she has five incision on her abdomen, all of which are very small thankfully.  The doctor told us that it looks like the cancer has not spread but they will be testing the lymph nodes and they will let us know within the next couple of days if chemo is necessary.  My mom is doing really well.  She is pretty weak and tired right now but surprisingly aware of everything and not very loopy even right as she was coming out of the anesthesia.  Her throat is very hoarse as they had to intubate (put a tube down her throat to help her breath during surgery) so it is very hard for her to speak above a whisper right now.  I know she will recover very quickly and be back up the mountain in no time.  She should be in the hospital until at least thursday and will still probably be recovering through saturday.  If you would like to come see her here at the hospital, please contact one of her family members first to see if she is up to visitors.  The numbers are below.  Thank you for all of your prayers and support.  The love is definitely felt by our entire family.  We are extremely grateful!
