You may not be able to see it clearly in these photos, but there are several metal spikes connected to the chains on the bottom of your foot that create some serious traction when walking on snow-packed or icy surfaces.
They will give you serious traction when you need it! They are easy to slip on over your shoes and lightweight to carry.
Unless you are fond of falling or slipping when you least expect it, I highly recommend the Microspikes during the winter months, especially.
They are small and lightweight enough to carry on all my hiking trails. When the trail turns ugly, I quickly put them on before I hit the icy or snow-packed trails. We often find sketchy trails during the fall, winter and spring hiking season.
Microspikes are recommended for anyone, of any age, who would love to feel confident when shoveling snow or walking to the mail box during the icy winter months.
